No Need… July 30, 2006
As we enter the nineteenth day of the latest stage in Global Gentrification, the Israeli response to the U.N.’s urgent request for a seventy-two hour cease fire is, “No need.” As the humanitarian horror continues to fester, Israeli spokesman Avi Pazner stated yesterday that “There is no need for a cease fire because they have already opened a Humanitarian corridor.” He neglected to mention that this so called “humanitarian corridor” ( which has already been bombed several times ) requires seventy two hours advanced notice to get “permission” from Israel to move any aid into the area.
This morning, after an air strike in Qana killed at least fifty-four civilians, Israel said they’re “sorry”… I beg to differ. Israeli ambassador Dan Gillerman ( after feigning his canned apology ) blamed the death of these women and children on Hezbollah. “If they weren’t there, they wouldn’t be bombed” he said. He called the area a “cesspool of terror.” That kind of justification clearly expresses distain and indifference to the Lebanese people and the International community, and it is in no way new. This particular strike happened to be in the same area where over one-hundred civilians were killed while hiding with U.N. Representatives in 1996, and the list of similar aggression is long and documented. Paul Findley’s Deliberate Deceptions (1998, pages 192-4). I don’t have the inclination to look up the resolutions since 1992 at the moment but I’m sure you get the point and see the pattern. Somewhere in the middle is when Hezbollah was created. Right now the U.N. Security counsel is in closed session, yet again, to discuss more resolutions to add to this list. So while the Israeli talking points center around U.N. Resolution 1559 ( an unenforceable resolution fabricated by the United States to force the Lebanese government to disarm Hezbollah ), bear in mind Israel’s demonstrated position on resolutions in the past. Gillerman said “He doesn’t think Hezbollah needs any more provocation to fight.” On that point, I would have to agree with him…
