Win the War? November 14, 2005

Jerry Springer (on AAR) asked an interesting question this morning.  Paraphrasing, he said “What sane American would go to bed thinking it would be good to loose this war.”  Well, the fact of the matter is that there is a perfectly “rational” argument for just such a thing.

Repeatedly we hear the statement “Now that we are there, we have to win”.  Certainly, that is just not “true” for a variety of reasons.  First of all, we don’t have to win.  Nowhere is it written that just because you are an American, you will be victorious.  Americans are of the mind that if they are in a fight, whether they are right or wrong, it is their divine right to prevail.  Obviously that is a ludicrous position.  It is an Ego driven, High School “Go Team” mentality that has no foundation in reality at all.  Through selective memory and constant programming, the United States conjures its image as a country that has never done anything wrong, has always been in existence, and has never lost a fight.  For a country that isn’t even two-hundred and thirty years old and is born from slavery and genocide, that is quite the ego indeed.

Assuming one believes in God at all, one would assume that God is on the side of the Truth.  All of us with even a little bit of sense have come to the conclusion that this war is a Lie…  So why should we win?

Clearly we shouldn’t.  Saving face for America’s self-perpetuating delusion is not a good enough reason for yet another people to be trampled into submission, and it is far past time that America recognize the error of our ways…  Don’t you think “God” would see the same?
