Removing the Blinders… September 27, 2006

Although the mainstream media is finding itself forced to address the occasional real issue, once again we are given a glaring example of the unified and consistent effort to mislead and misinform the American people.  We should all know by now it is not in the interest of the Corporation to have the people in this country or the world understand what is actually happening, and we see it clearly in the simu-coverage of the NIE report.

A friend of mine has asked me on a couple of occasions “who” exactly am I writing to.  I try to include something for everyone to grasp onto and identify as Reality in my writings, but a recent experience has given me clarity regarding who I need to be writing to.  The only problem is few of them will ever see it.

I went out the other evening and as I always do, I spoke to people.  I will ( of course ) speak to anyone and in the city you come across an incredibly wide variety of people.  This particular evening I spoke to Microsoft Evangelists, hairdressers, bouncers, homeless, promoters, racists, dancers, construction workers, police, photographers, and numerous others that crossed my path.  I find these conversations beneficial in gauging the state of society.

On my way home I walked through the park.  It was late and the park was almost empty, but there was one young black couple sitting on a bench. They called me over for whatever reason and we began to talk.  They were both twenty-one and the conversation from the onset was disturbingly not relevant.  It became increasing obvious that their entire existence functioned on a macro level and were completely unaware of some fundamental realities of this country and the world.  When a reference I made to the war in Lebanon was met with blank stares, I was sickened to find that they were not aware that such an event had even occurred.  They did of course know the details of JonBennet Ramsey.

This is who I write to.  I write to the people of this country and of this world who are never told the truth.  I write to the people who are intentionally kept stupid to feed the needs of the Global Machine.  For those of you who struggle to find ways to be “offended” by my perspective, I will simply tell you this.  You couldn’t possibly be as offended as I am by the results of this planetary society and the state of ignorance necessary to support it.  If you demonstrate your “outrage” at the reality of which I speak, you only succeed in identifying yourself as a supporter or perpetrator of the brutality and injustice that currently ( and temporarily ) govern this planet.

Where I differ greatly from those that oppose this new reality is that I have no desire at all to see them suffer.  I have no desire at all to cause them pain.  In fact, exactly the opposite.  I want for them what I want for all beings on the planet.  I want them to have knowledge, be free, and live happy.  It gives me no joy to watch them struggle against the wave of reality that has overtaken the planet.  In fact it causes me pain, just as it does to see any being suffer.  This is why I want them to stop resisting.  There is no point in it.  It is embarrassing and painful to watch them defend a position that not even they can believe in anymore and that is supported by no facts.

The recent release of portions of the NIE ( National Intelligence Estimate ) gives us yet another opportunity to examine reality.  However and as always, the mainstream media is not taking advantage of this opportunity.  Considering the released portion is a mere four pages, there is no reason why the media could not read it in it’s entirety two or three or four times in a day.  This would certainly be more beneficial to the American people than the dozens of times we’ve seen Bill Clinton “erupt like Vesuvius” and the snide commentary accompanying it.

Clearly this is deliberate.  There is no other explanation for why a twenty-four hour news day would consist of the same meaningless sound bytes over and over when a document of such critical importance to our status in the world is released.  They couldn’t be anymore clear about it.  They don’t want you to know.

Having read the document myself, I can obviously see why.  It would seem that for whatever reason the NIE actually contains some truth.  Given our recent experiences with “intelligence” agencies in this country I was somewhat pleasantly surprised to find that to be the case.

In addition to offering no in depth coverage of this document, the distraction is furthered by the one paragraph the media has “chosen” to focus on.  This circular debate over whether the Iraq war is “helping or hindering terrorism” is far from the most important conclusion in this document.  This once again, is quite deliberate and allows them to “appear” as if they are discussing the topic when in reality they are avoiding it.

As always I encourage you to read the entire document for yourself ( CSPAN has a link for instance ) but I will choose some other paragraphs to look at.  Paragraphs that not only paint a very different picture but introduce an entirely different topic…  The power of Peace.  First let’s start with a view of reality.

“We assess that the underlying factors fueling the spread of the movement outweigh its vulnerabilities and are likely to do so for the duration of the timeframe of this Estimate.”

This sentence ( I would hope ) is fairly self-explanatory.  The “movement” is increasing and has no real “vulnerabilities” we can exploit to stop it.

“Four underlying factors that are fueling the spread of the jihadist movement:

  1. Entrenched grievances, such as corruption, injustice, and fear of Western domination, leading to anger, humiliation, and a sense of powerlessness.
  2. The Iraq ‘jihad.’
  3. The slow pace of real and sustained economic, social, and political reforms in many Muslim majority nations.
  4. Pervasive anti-US sentiment among most Muslims.”

Again, I would hope this is easy to understand.  In fact, they explain each other.  It applies to a variety of instances but in the case of Iraq as a result of the invasion and subsequent failure to provide a working society, an atmosphere of humiliation, anger, and powerlessness has led to the Iraq “Jihad.”  It is not the “fear” of Western Domination that is fueling it however, it is the reality of it…

Now for the “good” news.

“Concomitant vulnerabilities in the jihadist movement have emerged that, if fully exposed and exploited, could begin to slow the spread of the movement.  They include dependence on the continuation of Muslim-related conflicts, the limited appeal of the jihadist radical ideology, the emergence of respected voices of moderation, and criticism of the violent tactics employed against mostly Muslim citizens.

The most important statement of fact in this paragraph is the subtle but clearly stated dependence on the continuing conflicts on Muslim soil that create the rage we call “terrorism.”  Quite clearly stated in the NIE, we see that ending these conflicts would eliminate a large portion of the motivation for such anger.

“Recent condemnations of violence and extremist religious interpretations by a few notable Muslim clerics signal a trend that could facilitate the growth of a constructive alternative to jihadist ideology: peaceful political activism.  This also could lead to the consistent and dynamic participation of broader Muslim communities in rejecting violence, reducing the ability of radicals to capitalize on passive community support.  In this way, the Muslim mainstream emerges as the most powerful weapon in the war on terror.”

So here it is.  A day I thought could not be.  The NIE and I are talking about the same thing… Peace as the most powerful.  It is unfortunate that they limit the responsibility to the Muslim community however.  This is not the “Muslim” communities’ problem.  This is our collective problem.  We all have “radicals” in our midst. It will make no difference if the Muslim community chooses peace as long as there are others who choose war.  As stated quite clearly in the NIE, war and occupation breed humiliation, anger, and powerlessness which create the conditions we Americans fear.

All of us on this world must speak of peace for it to be a reality.  As long as there is one hungry child or one enslaved man there will always be a reason for resentment, anger, and killing.  This must stop and we must do it together.  Not just Muslims, Not just Americans, not just Israelis, but the Whole of the World.  The truth that is found in just this one document is another example that the problem is not that the new reality doesn’t exist… The problem is that it is being hidden from us.
